The 2023 edition of the Evening Standard New Homes Awards was very special for Peabody New Homes as we celebrated 6 wins. The ceremony took place on Friday 29 September at The Dorchester Hotel during a luncheon.

The event has been running for 32 years and celebrates new build homes in London and the Home Counties. An independent panel of property experts reviews and votes for the entries submitted by different developers. These professionals are not the only ones who can have a say. Evening Standard readers who have recently bought a property can also vote for their favourite development or home.

Rewarding practical and energy efficient homes

The Evening Standard New Homes Awards want to shed light on how necessary living in a safe, functional, modern, and sustainable home has become. Energy efficient homes are no longer a  luxury, they are a necessary part of a sustainable and responsible society. As a result, the industry now has a responsibility to provide people with homes that respond to these needs. This is something Peabody New Homes view as essential. We want to provide all our residents with the best living conditions.

Southmere wins the Best First-time Buyer Home Award

We are very proud to see Southmere rewarded as it is part of the regeneration project for Thamesmead, South East London. Residents can enjoy a vibrant local area without feeling deprived of nature, since this development offers double the amount of green space per person than the London average. When it comes to quality and sustainability, Southmere homeowners benefit from increased energy efficiency and lower maintenance costs through the communal heat network, mechanical ventilation, smart meters and high-rated appliances.

Regarding entertainment and social life, the residents have access to a community building, a co-working space, a cosy lounge and even an area to watch films. The development also provides concierge services to make people's daily lives even smoother.

Another element that made Southmere the winner of this award is without a doubt the exceptional range of properties and sizes it has available for first-time buyers. From 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments to 3 and 4-bedroom townhouses, there is the right home for everyone's needs and budget. To make it even more accessible for people to step onto the property ladder, several Southmere homes are available through Shared Ownwership.

  • Best Family Home – Sydenham Grove
  • Best Out of London Home – Newman Place
  • Best Shared Ownership Home – Willow Walk
  • Best Shared Ownership Development – Southmere
  • Best Regeneration Project – St John’s Way

The panel of judges identified these developments as stand out and worthy of recognition. This, again, highlights how Peabody New Homes are meeting the needs of modern buyers by creating energy-efficient high quality homes built around communities and places people want to live in.

These awards are also an important moment for us to celebrate the hard work of all the amazing people who built and contributed to all the incredible winning developments. The Evening Standard New Homes Awards are established and respected, so receiving these prestigious awards is a testament that Peabody is fulfilling its mission: helping people flourish in high-quality homes and building strong communities that enhance everyone's lives.
