Wheelchair adaptable homes

At Peabody New Homes our focus is on designing and building developments people can flourish in. We want our homes to meet the highest standards, and be affordable and comfortable. As part of meeting the needs of all our residents, we offer wheelchair adaptable homes.

What is a wheelchair adaptable home?

A wheelchair-adaptable home is a home that can be easily adapted to meet the needs of a household including wheelchair users.

From the beginning, wheelchair-adaptable homes are designed with accessibility in mind. They are thought through to allow alterations to be made later on to turn it into a wheelchair-accessible home.

For a home to meet accessibility needs such as being wheelchair accessible, several criteria must be met. That means that not every home can be altered to become an accessible home.

To provide a wheelchair user with a home that is comfortable and grants them autonomy, it is crucial to have step-free access to the home but also to think about the actual life of that person in the home and their daily activities (going places, cooking, showering).
